The Philosophy Club President, Jacob Spicer, and Vice President, Amy Meyer, have put together what promises to be a terrific series of Philosophy Club events this semester.
Coming up this Monday, 1/28, at 8:00 p.m. in ST-108 (if it's available) we have a SouthPark and Cake fueled discussion of the nature of existence and a celebration of Club Officer Dana Mears' admission to the Penn State Agricultural and Biological Engineering Graduate Program.
Way to go Dana!
A pity if we prove Penn State doesn't exist...

Neatly coinciding with topics in The Philosophy of Love and Sex, the Philosophy Club is pleased to present the last of its nights of "Bullshit!" this semester.
Combining an episode of Penn & Teller's "Bullshit!" series with several well-chosen and not in the least bit offensive episodes of "South Park", the Philosophy Club will delve into the thorny issue of
Prostitution
- Should the world's oldest profession be outlawed?
- Is prostitution harmful merely because it is illegal, or are there other harms besides?
- Can there be a crime if there is no victim?
- Why in a capitalist society are we allowed to give something valuable away for free, but we can't charge anything for it?
- Does everyone have a price?
- What defines prostitution?
- Is traditional marriage a kind of prostitution?
- Does everyone use sex in some way to advance their careers?
Join us to discuss these and other questions!
Monday, 10/19.
7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

The Philosophy Club is pleased to host its second and last Coffee Talk of the semester Monday, 11/5, from 7-10 p.m. at Half-Price Bookstore.
The topic of conversation will be living the good life, and our own Glenn Tiller may be available to contribute what he's discovered in teaching "The Meaning of Life".
To be sure, conversations go where they will, so as we saw last time, please be prepared for some interesting digressions.
See you there!

The Philosophy Club proudly presents "Bullshit!"
Ingredients:
- One carefully chosen episode of Penn & Teller's "Bullshit!";
- Two especially snarky episodes of "South Park";
- A large portion of well-ripened philosophical skepticism, mashed;
- One large chunk of cynicism;
- At least 15 smart, overworked, and stressed-out students;
- Free pizza.
Preparation:
- Stir until blended;
- Let stand ten minutes;
- Repeat until bubbles form;
- Fold in additional skepticism and cynicism as needed until bubbles burst.
Caution: May cause laughter, thoughtfulness, and offense. Righteous indignation has been found in some clinical trials. Treat quickly with unsweetened cynicism.
The Cult of Personality
Prepare to have your favorite icons skewered (or, at least, humanized) as we learn disconcerting facts about our cultural and religious heroes.

The Philosophy Club is pleased to present the first of its new "Bullshit!" meetings.
Combining some of the best episodes of Penn & Teller's "Bullshit!" series with carefully chosen episodes of "South Park", the Philosophy Club presents "Bullshit!" so as to illuminate by sarcasm, satire, and snarky commentary.
- Have you ever had thoughts that would have gotten you burned at the stake in centuries past, and might still?
- Have you ever wondered whether you were the only genuinely skeptical person on campus?
- Do friends sometimes ask you to shut-up about why they believe what they believe?
- Do you ever fear you're the only one who gets that uncomfortable feeling that all is not as it seems and maybe they really are out to get you?
- Have you ever wanted free pizza?
Then "Bullshit!" is for you!
This Monday, 9/24, from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. we hunt for Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the Chupacabra, and other so-called cryptids in ST-108 for the first topic of "Bullshit!",
Cryptozoology
