Neatly coinciding with topics in The Philosophy of Love and Sex, the Philosophy Club is pleased to present the last of its nights of "Bullshit!" this semester.
Combining an episode of Penn & Teller's "Bullshit!" series with several well-chosen and not in the least bit offensive episodes of "South Park", the Philosophy Club will delve into the thorny issue of
Prostitution
- Should the world's oldest profession be outlawed?
- Is prostitution harmful merely because it is illegal, or are there other harms besides?
- Can there be a crime if there is no victim?
- Why in a capitalist society are we allowed to give something valuable away for free, but we can't charge anything for it?
- Does everyone have a price?
- What defines prostitution?
- Is traditional marriage a kind of prostitution?
- Does everyone use sex in some way to advance their careers?
Join us to discuss these and other questions!
